Why should we wash our hands frequently during the epidemic?

       With the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, people's awareness of prevention has also been significantly improved. Daily protection is essential. For example, we must pay attention to wearing masks and try to reduce the frequency of going out. Even if we go out, stay away from crowded places. At home at ordinary times, should ventilate more, disinfect more, wash hands frequently, etc.

Whether expert or some professionals, when introducing a layer of protection, they repeatedly emphasize that everyone must wash their hands frequently. Why is that?

Mainly because coronavirus is very contagious. Mainly through respiratory tract, such as droplets. Because the nucleic acid of the pathogenic bacteria is single-stranded RNA, it can grow in primary cells of human kidney, intestine, and lung. After blind passage, it can enhance the pathogenicity of coronavirus. Coronavirus is sensitive to ether, chloroform, medical alcohol (75%), and ultraviolet rays, which can eliminate the virus on the surface. And we live in a world full of bacteria and viruses. In life, if a patient infected with viruses and bacteria adsorbs droplets to objects such as doorknobs, bus railings, elevator buttons, etc. by sneezing, coughing, etc., then it is easy for others to touch these objects by accident, which leads to contamination of the hands.

What is proper handwashing?

Step 1: Fully wet your hands under running water.

Step 2: Take an appropriate amount of hand sanitizer or soap and apply evenly to the entire palm, back of the hand, fingers and between the fingers.

Step 3: Carefully rub your hands for at least 15 seconds. The specific operations are as follows:

(1) Palm to palm, the gaps between the fingers are closed, and they are rubbed together;

(2) The palms of the hands and the backs of the hands are rubbed together along the finger gaps, and then exchange;

(3) Palm to palm, and the fingers of both hands are rubbed together;

(4) Bend the fingers, make the knuckles rotate and rub in the other palm, and then exchange;

(5) Hold the thumb of the left hand with the right hand, rotate and rub, and then exchange;

(6) Put the tips of five fingers together on the palm of the other hand, rotate and rub, and then exchange.

(7) Wash your hands thoroughly under running water and dry them with a paper towel.

It should be noted that after mastering the correct way to wash hand, we must pay attention to wash our hand frequently in daily life, whether it is before and after meals or before and after defecation. If there is no water condition, we also need to  disinfect with regular sprays of alcohol frequently, and use hand sanitizer and other products to clean up.
